Education

Portfolio Preparation

The goal of Portfolio Preparation is for a student to prepare pieces suitable for an architecture or design portfolio submission. The work we create will be pieces that exude the student's creativity and may include some or all of the following: sketches from observation, landscape drawings, digital artwork made with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, examples of design work (including process), and understanding of technical drawing. Special attention is paid to which universities the student is applying to, the program's particular requirements, and to where the student needs to build strength in order to be successful in their desired area of study. In addition to what is outlined below, students will be required to keep up with moderately-scaled sketchbook assignments that will be given throughout our time working together.

Two Project Package - includes 3, 1.5 hour sessions (4 and a half hours total) of one on one, detailed, and guided instruction. All projects and sessions must be completed within a 5 week period in order to maintain the integrity of the material learned. At the end of our time together, the student will have completed two projects that directly focuses on their desired portfolio content. For pricing, click here.

Three Project Package - includes 5, 1.5 hour sessions (7 and a half hours total) of one on one, detailed, and guided instruction. All projects and sessions must be completed within an 8 week period in order to maintain the integrity of the material learned. At the end of our time together, the student will have completed three projects that directly focuses on their desired portfolio content. For pricing, click here.

Per-hour Guidance is also available. You can tailor any desired outcome you would prefer this way.

Materials: The student must have, at minimum, a sketchbook, non-mechanical pencils that range in lead weight (6H, 2H, HB, 4B), and a marker pen (such as a Pentel Sign Pen). Also, be prepared to tote projects back and forth using some kind of portfolio carrying case, or any other means to transport large paper without getting damaged. Additional materials may be requested.

Time Commitment: The student is expected to spend at least 2-3 hours (minimum) per week engaged in projects, including sketchbook assignments. This is a minimum and the student must be aware that, in design, sometimes it takes more time than initially thought to complete a project. The student must be self-motivated and responsible for getting the assignments done, no matter how much time it may take.
